It's all about the trees, look at them... see how they breathe, better yet feel how they breathe, and feel how YOU breathe...
The importance of a tree does not end there. Read the poem below and become aware.
This is Tree Psyde, this is You and I.
"The tree, source of life and hope for generations,
Tree, your wonders are essential for the ecosystems
Tree, everyone knows about your ecological value; you are a producer of oxygen and a source of life, since the phenomenon of photosynthesis uses light energy to convert water and carbon dioxide into food for the tree.
Tree, across wooded spaces, you maintain a certain proportion of natural elements that is essential to the balance of our psyche.
Tree, you reduce the temperature around homes and therefore reduce the use of air conditioning.
Tree, your shade protects us when the sun shines.
Tree, oh how your wonders are innumerable. It is you who attracts ecotourism; wooded areas and urban parks with high planting potential also attract tourists.
Tree, your decorative quality brings beauty to our houses through your spectacular blossoms and all of your other ornamental characteristics.
Tree, your vegetation improves the aesthetic of the urban landscape by changing the texture and creating a contrast of colors and shapes compared to the adjacent buildings.
Tree, your use in medicine is proven, since several of our foods and pharmaceutical products come from extracts or are processed from plants.
Tree, without your woody cover, animal life could never have existed on our planet, which is comprised of more than 300,000 plant species.
Tree, we are conscious because of your ability to regulate nitrogen in the atmosphere and to grow in poor soil, like in particularly arid and disturbed sites.
Tree, we all believe that present and future generations should protect you because of your many benefits.
Tree, you are essential to air purification because you act as real air filters, absorbing dusts. Thus, the pollutants and dusts suspended in the air can be caught by your leaves, which limits their circulation in the environment.
Tree, in the heat, we recognize the value of your foliage, which intercepts, absorbs, and reflects solar radiation; this reduces the intensity of the radiation and the resulting heat.
Tree, you are the inseparable companion of humans and animals.
Tree, you are the home and the food of several species of bird, insect, and small animal. Your many fruits attract and feed several mammals.
Tree, your existence ensures the survival of Earth’s living beings.
Tree, you have an important role in biodiversity because the energy produced and stored by plants is the source of food for animals.
Tree, thanks to your generosity, your foliage protects us from noise: we know that a belt of trees 30 meters thick provides noise reduction from six to eight decibels. Thank you for your presence.
Tree, the ignorant and senseless people involved in excessive deforestation do not know that your presence is enough to reduce wind speeds by providing resistance to the moving air.
Tree, you give us construction materials, wood for heating, and pulp for paper. You are indispensable to the wood industries.
Tree, you are essential to environmental education: through you, we can raise awareness about the conservation of green spaces and popularise the science behind the ecological phenomena in which you act.
Tree, your aesthetic functions are visible outside well-developed buildings and homes.
Tree, you mark your presence through the improvement of water quality because you reduce the volume of run-off waters, protect water sources, and prevent or at least reduce damage caused by floods.
Tree, you are the pride of the owners of orchards and fruit tree plantations. Truly, your contribution to our lives is undeniable.
Tree, your shadow keeps water cool, especially in ponds, and provides essential oxygenation to aquatic fauna.
Tree, you grant us hospitality by intercepting precipitation like rain and snow. Thank you for your omnipresence in our lives.
Tree, you intervene as an inhibitor of accidents and you reduce winds on the borders of express lanes.
People of the world, let us save the trees, for future generations will inherit what we will have done to the environment. Trees have multiple benefits with regards to the stabilization and regularization of hydro-logical levels and the level of the water table. The absence of plant cover makes the ground’s surface more sensitive to the impact of drops of water and the force of the wind. This problem is particularly important on sloping ground, riverbanks and stream banks, cliffs, hills, and embankments.
Women, men, youth, children of the entire world, from the North to the South and from the East to the West, let us all be vigilant against barbaric acts against trees. Climate change is partially linked to deforestation.
Let us forget our selfish interests and ban the pollution of the atmosphere. The environment is our shared property."
